Adelaide Oval and RoofClimb
City views from the top
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Adelaide Oval is one of the most beautiful cricket and Australian rules football grounds in the world, nestled against the River Torrens and framed by the Torrens Lake and the parkland hills beyond. The RoofClimb experience takes small groups of visitors across the Western Stand rooftop to a platform 50 metres above the playing surface, delivering 360-degree views of Adelaide and its surrounds.
The climb is led by specialist RoofClimb Leaders and follows a route across the iconic saddle-shaped roof, pausing at key points including the Mid-Shell, Link Bridge, and the famous Lean-out Point, where participants lean outwards over the stadium edge secured by a safety harness. The experience is available as both a daytime and twilight climb, with the twilight option offering spectacular views of the city lights as they come on.
At the summit platform, guests can sit in rooftop stadium seats, looking directly down onto the playing field below. The oval itself also offers a heritage walking tour at ground level for those who prefer to keep their feet on the turf.
Minimum age for participants is 8 years. Booking in advance online is recommended as climbs operate in small groups and popular sessions sell out.
