Australia Zoo is one of the world's great wildlife parks, sprawling across 100 hectares of Sunshine Coast hinterland at Beerwah. Founded by the late Steve Irwin and run by the Irwin family, it is home to more than 1,200 animals across 100-plus species, from tigers and cheetahs to koalas, wombats and the resident crocodiles that made the zoo famous.

Daily live shows in the Crocoseum pull in crowds with spectacular demonstrations involving crocodiles, birds of prey, snakes and lizards. Keeper talks run throughout the day at habitats across the park, offering insight into each animal's biology and conservation story. The Wildlife Warriors Conservation Fund, headquartered here, supports field projects across Australia and beyond.

Families can spend an entire day exploring African savannah exhibits, the Asian elephant precinct, and the Australia habitats. Multiple dining options, a gift shop and easy rail access from Brisbane make a visit straightforward. The zoo is open daily from 9am to 5pm.
