Ballarat Wildlife Park is a family-owned sanctuary on the eastern edge of Ballarat where visitors can get up close with over 100 free-roaming kangaroos, hand-feed wallabies, and observe koalas, wombats, Tasmanian devils, crocodiles, and a wide range of native reptiles. Open every day except Christmas, it offers an intimate, unhurried wildlife encounter that larger zoos rarely match.

Founded as a small local attraction, the park has expanded over decades into a respected wildlife facility known for its relaxed, hands-on approach. Daily keeper talks and animal presentations run throughout the day, giving visitors a chance to learn about Australian fauna from the people who care for them. The kangaroo free-roam area is a highlight, particularly popular with children who can feed and interact with the mob at close quarters.

The park also holds crocodiles, pythons, blue-tongue lizards, and other reptiles as well as exotic birds, offering a broad cross-section of Australian and some international wildlife. A dedicated children's section and shaded picnic areas make it well suited for families spending a half-day or longer on site.

The park is located in Ballarat East, less than five minutes from the CBD. Tickets purchased online are discounted compared to gate prices.
