The Big Banana Fun Park
Thrills for the whole family
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
One of Australia's most iconic roadside attractions, the Big Banana Fun Park has delighted visitors since 1964. Sitting on the outskirts of Coffs Harbour along the Pacific Highway, the park packs more than 20 all-weather activities into a single sprawling site, from a giant toboggan and ice skating rink to laser tag, escape rooms, and a seasonal water park. Entry to the grounds is free, with individual activities ticketed separately.
The centrepiece is the oversized fibreglass banana that gave the park its name, and a photo in front of it remains a beloved rite of passage for travellers on the Pacific Highway. Inside, attractions range from the Plantation Coaster that winds through working banana plantations to a 4D ride simulator, bumper cars, and mini golf, making it genuinely difficult to get bored regardless of the weather.
Food and shopping are built into the experience. The chocolate kitchen, the candy kitchen, and an opal and gem centre keep non-riders busy, while combo passes and an Ultimate Pass make it easy to bundle the rides you want at a discount.
The park opens daily at 9 am and closes only on Christmas Day, so it suits a spontaneous detour as much as a planned outing. Allow a full day if you are travelling with children, or a couple of hours if you are passing through and want a taste of the classic roadside experience.
