Bright is one of Australia's most celebrated autumn destinations, where streets lined with English oaks, elms, poplars, and Himalayan cedars transform into a blaze of red, gold, and amber each April and May. Delany Avenue is the centrepiece of the spectacle, where scarlet oaks were deliberately planted to contrast with dark cedar canopies. The annual Bright Autumn Festival, running since 1962, draws visitors from across the country to celebrate the seasonal colour.

Delany Avenue runs through the heart of Bright and is named after Edward Delany, who served as Bright Shire Secretary for 34 years and championed the town's tourism identity. The avenue's European trees were planted with deliberate artistry, with scarlet oak leaves glowing deep red against the dark needles of Himalayan cedars, creating a contrast that draws photographers and visitors in their thousands each autumn.

Centenary Park sits alongside the Ovens River just behind the Alpine Visitor Information Centre on Gavan Street, offering grassy riverbanks, barbecue facilities, picnic shelters, a playground, and access to swimming and fishing spots. The park's stone kiosk shelters, built around 1925, are heritage landmarks within the precinct.

Autumn is the peak season, roughly late March to late May, but the town and parklands are enjoyable year-round. Walking maps for the foliage trails are available from the Alpine Visitor Information Centre at 119 Gavan Street, which also provides information on the broader High Country region.
