Bruny Island Cruises
Three hours of wild Southern Ocean
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Bruny Island Cruises operates a three-hour wilderness boat tour departing daily from Adventure Bay, taking passengers along the spectacular south-western coastline of South Bruny Island. The trip passes towering sea cliffs, surging blowhole caves, and offshore stacks while searching for fur seals, dolphins, migrating whales, albatross and other seabirds in some of the cleanest ocean water on the planet.
The high-speed, purpose-built vessel carries a maximum of 43 passengers, keeping the experience personal and the commentary intimate. Highlights include the 300-metre-high cliffs of the island's south coast, a natural rock archway known as The Monument, and the frequent appearance of Australian fur seals hauled out on exposed rocks. The tour has won the title of Australia's Best Tourist Attraction multiple times.
Self-drive visitors depart from 1005 Adventure Bay Road. Year-round departures leave at 11am daily, with additional morning and afternoon options running from December to late April. Bookings are essential as the vessel fills quickly, and comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing is strongly recommended.
