Cedar Creek Falls
Rainforest waterfall and swimming hole
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Cedar Creek Falls is a picturesque waterfall and natural swimming hole tucked into tropical bushland roughly halfway between Airlie Beach and Proserpine, just 30 kilometres from each town on fully sealed roads. The falls cascade over rocky ledges into a clear, cool pool surrounded by eucalyptus and native rainforest vegetation, making it a popular spot for a refreshing swim on a warm day.
The walk from the car park to the falls is only about 200 metres return, making it accessible for visitors of all fitness levels. The pool is naturally clear and inviting after rainfall, when the cascading water is at its most impressive. Note that jumping and diving from the rocks is prohibited for safety reasons.
There are no entry fees and no formal facilities on site, so visitors should bring their own food, water, and sun protection. The access road is sealed and suitable for all vehicles, and a small car park sits at the trailhead off Cedar Creek Falls Road.
The falls are seasonal in character, most dramatic during and after rain, but the swimming hole retains water year-round. Wildlife such as butterflies, parrots, and water birds are commonly spotted in the surrounding vegetation, adding to the natural appeal of the site.
