Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a 27-hectare heritage-listed nature reserve in the southern Gold Coast suburb of Currumbin, operated as a for-purpose charity since 1947. Guests can hand-feed lorikeets, walk through open kangaroo enclosures, hold a koala and explore the Lost Valley rainforest, home to red pandas, lemurs, crocodiles and exotic reptiles, all while supporting a world-class on-site wildlife hospital.

The sanctuary shelters more than 1,400 animals across rainforest, open bush and purpose-built habitats. Wildlife shows run throughout the day, covering birds of prey and reptile demonstrations, while the iconic free-flight lorikeet feeding sessions at morning and afternoon remain a highlight for visitors of all ages. The Koala Experience allows close encounters and photos with resident koalas, and the open kangaroo paddocks let guests walk freely among mobs of eastern greys.

The Lost Valley rainforest precinct is a lush, immersive walk-through where red pandas, cotton-top tamarins and ring-tailed lemurs share space with native reptiles and colourful birds. The on-site Wildlife Hospital treats over 500 sick and injured native animals each year and is open to public viewing, offering a genuinely educational window into conservation work in action.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary reinvests proceeds into its conservation projects. The TreeTop Challenge aerial obstacle course is available as a paid add-on, and the sanctuary's location just minutes from Currumbin Beach makes it easy to combine with a coastal afternoon.
