Curtis Falls
Rainforest waterfall walk
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Curtis Falls is one of the most accessible and picturesque waterfalls on Tamborine Mountain, reached via a short 1.1-kilometre return walk through the Joalah section of Tamborine National Park. The track winds through dense subtropical rainforest and ends at a tranquil pool and viewing area below the tiered basalt falls, making it a favourite for families, photographers, and walkers of all ages.
The well-maintained graded path passes beneath a canopy of piccabeen palms, bangalow palms, and strangler figs, with interpretive signs explaining the ecology of the rainforest. The falls drop into a clear, tea-coloured rock pool, and the surrounding rainforest amplifies the sound of the water year-round. Swimming is not permitted in order to protect the resident platypus and glow worms.
Parking is available at the Dapsang Drive car park, which also has toilets and picnic facilities. Entry to the national park and all walking tracks is free. The car park can fill quickly on weekends and during school holidays, so an early morning start is recommended.
