Denmark Wine Region Cellar Doors
Cool climate, world-class drops
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
The Denmark wine region sits on the south coast of Western Australia within the broader Great Southern appellation, producing cool-climate wines that have earned international recognition. With more than 25 wineries spread across rolling karri-forested hills and river valleys, the region is compact enough to visit several cellar doors in a single day. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon are among the standout varieties.
The region's climate, moderated by cold Southern Ocean air, produces wines with distinctive freshness and structure. Notable cellar doors include The Lake House Denmark, open most days with tastings overlooking a private lake; Harewood Estate; and Willoughby Park, which has a brewery and restaurant on site.
Forest Hill Vineyard holds the distinction of being one of the oldest vineyards in the Great Southern, originating from a 1965 trial planting of Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its restaurant is acclaimed for locally sourced produce and sweeping vineyard views. Most cellar doors offer complimentary tastings and are dog-friendly outdoors.
