Echo Point Lookout
Clifftop views over the valley
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Perched on the edge of the Jamison Valley, Echo Point is the Blue Mountains' most visited lookout, offering sweeping panoramas across eucalypt forest and sandstone escarpments stretching to the horizon. The wide, paved viewing platform is accessible for wheelchairs and prams, and an on-site visitor information centre makes it an ideal first stop for exploring the region.
Echo Point sits at the end of Echo Point Road in Katoomba, roughly two hours west of Sydney by train or car. The lookout platform juts out over a sheer cliff drop, placing visitors directly above one of the deepest valleys in the Blue Mountains. A network of cliff-top walking tracks begins here, connecting to longer trails through the national park.
The Blue Mountains Visitor Information Centre operates daily at the same site, where staff can help with maps, national park passes and accommodation bookings. Paid parking is available in the adjacent carpark, including accessible bays, but spaces fill quickly on weekends and school holidays, so arriving early or using public transport is strongly recommended.
