Trading since 1897 from a handsome Federation-era building on the corner of South Terrace and Henderson Street, the Fremantle Markets are among the most beloved weekend institutions in Western Australia. More than 150 stalls fill the heritage hall and surrounding yard with handmade crafts, fresh produce, street food, vintage clothing, and live busking across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Victorian-era market hall was declared a heritage building and has been continuously operating for well over a century, making it one of the oldest surviving market structures in Australia. Inside, craft makers, fashion designers, jewellers, and artisan food producers set up side by side, creating a lively and eclectic atmosphere that draws both locals and visitors.

The Yard market component extends the fresh-food offering with vegetable growers, bakers, and specialty food retailers, while the surrounding South Terrace streetscape, part of the famous Cappuccino Strip, adds cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance.

Entry is free. The markets are open every Friday from 9am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 6pm, with most public holidays also observed. Buskers perform throughout the day, adding to the vibrant street atmosphere.
