Hands of Fame Park
Country legends cast in concrete
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
At the corner of Kable Avenue and Brisbane Street in central Tamworth, Hands of Fame Park is an open-air monument to Australian country music. Established in 1977, the cornerstone features the concrete handprints of more than 300 artists, songwriters, and industry figures who have shaped the genre, including international stars such as Keith Urban.
The tradition of imprinting began as a grassroots tribute during Tamworth's early years as the country music capital, and it has grown into one of the most tangible records of the industry's history anywhere in Australia. Inductees are selected each year and the imprinting ceremony takes place on the Saturday morning of the Tamworth Country Music Festival, following the annual cavalcade through town.
Browsing the cornerstone is a genuinely moving experience for fans, who can trace the handprints of legends from Slim Dusty and Tex Morton through to contemporary stars. Each imprint is labelled with the artist's name, making it easy to search for favourites. The surrounding park area includes lawns and gardens that are pleasant for a brief rest in the shade.
The park is freely accessible at all times and requires no booking. Street parking is available nearby, and the site is a short walk from the main Peel Street dining and shopping precinct.
