Light to Light Walk
Three days of wild coast
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
The Light to Light Walk traces 32 kilometres of dramatic coastline through Beowa National Park, from the sandstone Boyds Tower south to the Green Cape Lighthouse, the southernmost lighthouse in New South Wales. This three-day walk passes red rock platforms, clifftop heathland, eucalypt forest, and some of the finest whale watching vantage points on the Sapphire Coast.
The route begins at the Boyds Tower picnic area, reached via Edrom Road south of Eden, and follows the rugged coast through campgrounds including purpose-built timber platforms at Mowarry Point and Hegartys Bay. Daily distances average around ten kilometres, making it achievable for fit walkers with some bushwalking experience. Water is available at some campgrounds but must be treated before drinking.
The scenery is the drawcard. The contrast between the vivid red sedimentary rock shelves and the deep blue of the Tasman Sea is striking, and the heathland erupts in wildflower colour during spring. Threatened species including the eastern ground parrot live here, and kangaroos, wombats, and echidnas are commonly seen.
A national park vehicle entry fee applies in the Green Cape area. Shuttle transfer services operate out of Eden and Merimbula for those who prefer a one-way walk. Book campgrounds through NSW National Parks before departing.
