At the southern end of Cape Range National Park, Yardie Creek cuts through vivid red limestone cliffs to form the park's only permanent body of water. The gorge walls rise sharply from both banks, sheltering black-flanked rock wallabies, ospreys, and an array of bush birds. A one-hour guided boat tour takes passengers deep into the canyon, combining natural history commentary with genuine wildlife sightings.

The boat tour departs from the Yardie Creek car park with several departures across the day on operational days. A shaded vessel carries passengers along the creek while knowledgeable guides explain the geology, Aboriginal cultural history of the Baiyungu, Thalanyji, and Yinigurdira peoples, and the ecology of the gorge. The endangered black-flanked rock wallaby is spotted most days, often lounging on sun-warmed ledges a few metres above the waterline.

Visitors who prefer to go on foot can tackle the 2-kilometre Yardie Gorge Trail or the easier Yardie Nature Walk along the creek bank. Both walks reward walkers with close-up views of the sheer cliffs and, in cooler months, stands of native fig trees clinging to the rock face.

Yardie Creek is about 90 kilometres south of Exmouth on a sealed road. Facilities include toilets and shaded picnic tables. Park entry fees apply. Book the boat tour in advance, particularly during school holidays, as minimum passenger numbers are required to run.
